Cuba Invites SOCAR To Develop Oil Fields

Cuba is actively developing relations with the Azerbaijan state oil and
Gas company (SOCAR) in the energy sector, Cuban Ambassador to Azerbaijan
MArcello Cabellero Torres told 1news.az in an interview. Torres said his
country is inviting Azerbaijani energy executives to visit Cuba to
discuss future cooperation, 1news.az reports.
The ambassador said large companies such as Petrobras, Repsol and others
were currently working in Cuba. He noted Russia's Gazprom was also
increasing its presence in the island nation.
"We want SOCAR to participate in developing off-shore fields since it
has experience in this field. Why do we want to cooperate with
Azerbaijan in energy resources? We have experience in working together
since the time of the Soviet Union. 70 percent of the oil and equipment
used in Cube came from Azerbaijan. Besides this, Azerbaijan today uses
modern equipment and we are ready to acquire equipment from Azerbaijan
by exchange or credit", Torres said.
