Cuba Wants Malaysia To Help Develop ICT Sector
HAVANA, June 19 (Bernama) -- Cuba is counting on Malaysia to help
develop its information communication technology (ICT) sector, Melaka
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam.
"Malaysia has a special programme to help Cuba in developing ICT through
an agreement signed in 2002," he told reporters here today.
To this end, Cuba and Malaysia have agreed on an exchange programme
involving ICT personnel especially those involved in computer software
development.
Mohd Ali said economic sanctions imposed by the United States had
stifled Cuba's development but this did not stop it from becoming the
fourth most developed nation in the Caribbean.
He said Malaysia and Melaka could benefit from Cuba's expertise in
biotechnology.
The Melaka state delegation is on a two-week working visit to South
America. Cuba is the third stop after Argentina and Chile.
