China helps Cuba upgrade electricity network

Havana (VNA) - China has presented 101 light lorries and motorcycles to
Cuba to help the latter repair and upgrade its electricity network.
Speaking at the hand-over ceremony in Cuba on May 5, Cuban President
Fidel Castro noted that energy saving is more important than the quest
for new energy sources now waning world wide.
Among electricity saving actions he required the distribution of
electricity-saving appliances, the installation of generators and power
lines rehab. President Fidel Castro said domestic consumption was
severed by two million kW that also spares 600,000 tonnes of oil and
annual expenses of 60 million USD.
Cuba plans to import 407 specialized vehicles from China in the next two
years, according to Cuba's Prensa Latina news agency.
