Chinese cars are on their way to Cuba

A shipment of more than 900 Geely cars left the Chinese port of Ningbo
headed for Havana this week, China Radio International reported
Thursday. So far this year, 1,572 Geelys have been shipped to Cuba,
"which represents the first large-scale introduction of Chinese vehicles
into the Cuban market," CRI said.
The report did not specify what models were shipped to Cuba or their cost.
Geely In 1998, Geely Automobile became the first independent automobile
manufacturer in China. Originally a motorcycle factory, it is now
China's biggest privately owned car company. Much of its production is
for export; in Latin America, its vehicles can already be seen in Peru,
Chile, Uruguay and Venezuela. Logo It is building a 300,000
unit-per-year facility in León, Mexico, expected to be operational by 2013.
Geely's ambitious plan to promote its cars overseas includes exporting
two-thirds of its total production by 2015. It aims to sell 1 million
cars by 2010. Its selling points: urban-sized, inexpensive and
fuel-efficient cars.
